There is a fascinating story to the Cambodia gambling dens that sit just across the dividing line from nearby Thailand, where gambling hall wagering is prohibited. Eight gambling halls are established in a relatively tiny area in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia casinos is in an excellent spot, a 3 to four hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 most popular wagering locations in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a huge business with Thai blue-collar workers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The astonishing income gained from the gambling halls ranges from $7.5 million to more than twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a number of restrictions requirements for gambling den ownership. Ownership is required to be largely Thai; still, financial sources are ambiguous. The borders are ceremoniously open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and even though visas are apparently required to cross, there are methods and means around this, as is accurate of most borders.
The first Cambodia gambling dens opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in 1998, leaving just a single gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored boat casino, contains one hundred and fifty one armed bandits and sixty tables. The Naga casino never closes with 42 tables of mini-punto banco, 4 tables of twenty-one, 10 of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The 1st casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown quickly opened. There are 150 one armed bandits and five tables at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machines and 68 gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains 300 slots and 70 tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machine games and 96 gaming tables, including eighty seven punto banco (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slots and 66 of the normal gaming tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the 8 casinos in Poipet, again a part of a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and ninety seven casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an all-inclusive resort and hotel complex that highlights a number of amenities accompanying the gambling den, which offers 10,000 sq.ft. of 130 slots and 88 table games.
