Cambodia Gambling Dens

[ English ]

There is an interesting background to the Cambodia gambling dens that lie just over the border from nearby Thailand, in which gambling hall gambling is against the law. Eight gambling halls are anchored in a relatively small location in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia gambling dens is in a perfect location, a three to four hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 biggest gambling centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a thriving business with Thai workers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The phenomenal income acquired from the casinos ranges from $7.5 million to more than 12.5 million, and there are a number of controls constraints for gambling den ownership. Ownership is required to be mainly Thai; still, financial sources are vague. The borders are ceremoniously open from 09:00 to 17:00, and even though visas are for all intents and purposes necessary to pass, there are means around this, as is accurate of many border crossings.

The first Cambodia gambling halls opened in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving only a single gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored ship gambling den, contains one hundred and fifty slots and sixty table games. The Naga gambling den is open 24 hours with 42 tables of mini-baccarat, four tables of blackjack, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The original gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown quickly followed. There are 150 slot machines and five table games at the Golden Crown and 104 slots and sixty eight tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains three hundred one armed bandits and seventy gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machine games and ninety six table games, including 87 baccarat chemin de fer (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 one armed bandits and sixty six of the familiar tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the eight gambling halls in Poipet, also a part of a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six one armed bandits and 97 games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an all-inclusive resort and hotel building that features numerous luxuries aside from the gambling hall, which provides ten thousand square feet of 130 slots and eighty eight gaming tables.
