Cambodia Casinos

There is an interesting history to the Cambodia gambling halls that sit just across the dividing line from neighboring Thailand, in which gambling hall gaming is not legal. Eight gambling halls are situated in a generally tiny location in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia gambling dens is in a prime destination, a three to four hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the two most popular gaming locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a huge business with Thai workers and tourists from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The astonishing capital gained from the casinos ranges from $7.5 million to over twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a few restrictions requirements for gambling den ownership. Ownership is presumed to be mainly Thai; however, investment sources are cryptic. The borders are officially open from 9:00 a.m. to 17:00, and even though visas are supposedly necessary to pass, there are means around this, as is correct of most border crossings.

The initial Cambodia gambling dens premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving only one gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary bateau gambling den, features one hundred and fifty slots and 60 tables. The Naga river boat never closes with 42 tables of mini-punto banco, four tables of chemin de fer, 10 of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The initial casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown before long opened. There are one hundred and fifty slot machine games and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machines and 68 gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights 300 slots and 70 tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and 96 gaming tables, including 87 baccarat banque (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 one armed bandits and sixty six of the normal tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the eight gambling dens in Poipet, again a part of a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slots and ninety seven table games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an all-inclusive vacation and hotel compound that contains many luxuries in addition to the gambling den, which provides 10,000 sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty slots and 88 tables.
